Kate Green is the Director of Engineering where she leads technical aspects of delivering great software. Prior to joining RIPL, she had a whirlwind tour at the US Digital Service, leading and contributing to projects like IRS's Direct File, data sharing for disaster recovery, and income verification for SNAP and Medicaid applicants. Prior to that, she worked as an engineer and manager, leading and contributing to front end, test automation, and full stack teams in many industries. Her favorite job before USDS was building front end tooling for a media company just as visual storytelling was becoming a required part of online news. Kate holds an elementary education degree from the University of Maryland. Ask her how often she uses what she learned while doing her job (the answer is daily). She lives in Silver Spring, MD and when she is not working to improve people’s lives she likes to play with her kids, teach her herding dogs new tricks, and play trumpet.
